Take Hold (poem)

By Luke Labern

Don't get trapped within, without you
Or feel unimportant.
Finally old times meet the new:
Why ever say "I can't"?

Both affectionate and steady,
With a frame quick and lean:
One can consider themselves ready
To set out for their queen.

Yet remain true to yourself, for
It would be a mistake
To the rest of the world ignore.
Stay true for your own sake.

There's no need for it to be all;
Stay committed to dreams.
Don't let your head or your chin fall:
No need to shed tears's streams.

If the sky seems heavy, o'ercast,
Then leave it be for then
Ponder on all else, till it's past --
Then -- take hold of the pen.

If you wish to discuss my work, or its themes

While I no longer stand by the work itself, the themes remain relevant: the meaning of life, finding purpose, exitalism, philosophical depression, nihilism, and the eessential questions of existence.

I was, and remain, open to discussion and to advice.
