Sweat (part III: Work & Rest) (poem)

By Luke Labern

III
[Work & Rest]

Now comes the action --
The way to penetrate
Dreams with pin-point
Precision.

This involves peaking
At the perfect moment,
Striking from a particular
Position.

Motivation must be in your
Arsenal -- but so too must
Patience. Only produce
Results when you can.

Achievements come in different
Flavours. And sizes.
Sometimes astute timing
Means more than exertion.

Only compete in
Competition.
Don't waste your time
In shadows.

You will know which
Moments matter:
Train silently to
Finish first.

Allow life its peaks and troughs;
Allow the same for yourself:
Let it be when you feel
Weak, and tired.

Ride the crest of the wave
Of melancholy:
Why struggle and lose
When you can relax

And take advantage
Of the strong
Emotional current?

If you wish to discuss my work, or its themes

While I no longer stand by the work itself, the themes remain relevant: the meaning of life, finding purpose, exitalism, philosophical depression, nihilism, and the eessential questions of existence.

I was, and remain, open to discussion and to advice.
