Mind Weather -- Rain (poem)

By Luke Labern

Precipitation swells, clouds' pregnant thoughts
Bust the levee, sanity sales from many ports --
The question being whether to import
Or export your wisdom? At risk always of distort.
Yesterday blue skies held cheerful birds.
Soaked now in soggy hopes and dull words:
"Lovely weather," the sarcastic grey beard
Says, and thus all hope of the day's sheared.
Oh, it's the English way, when it rains:
The complaints begin. Outside droplets cains
Unlucky souls, caught bare with no umbrella.
Meanwhile, inside snuggles the beauty and her fella.
Pitter-patter on the double-glazed pane,
Synchronised kisses to the sound of the rain.
Sadly, some souls sit segregated,
The coin flip unpleasantly fated.
That's you and I, in different places,
Trapped by a gravity bath. Heart races
As I wait for the sky to clear;
Soon the sun while shine, and your there will be here.

While I no longer stand by the work itself, the themes remain relevant: the meaning of life, finding purpose, exitalism, philosophical depression, nihilism, and the eessential questions of existence.

I was, and remain, open to discussion and to advice.
