No Battery (poem)

I heard three quick rings –
A knock at the door, two notifications
And twelve tweets to spare.

I unplugged the phone, closed my
Laptop and silenced the iPhone — but I’d forgotten
The biggest distraction was still there.

No unplugging of electricity
Or discharging of a battery
Could quell a beauty with
                      Brown eyes &
                      Brown hair.
